Gus' is located in South Pasadena on Fair Oaks and it sells the classic bbq dishes that we all know, such as pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. I always pass by it and never went in, so the other day when the boyfriend and I were figuring out what to eat for lunch, lo and behold, GUS' was right there!
We ordered the pulled pork tostada, which came with large tortilla chips, mixed greens, guacamole, and tons of strips of delicious pulled pork. It was super yummy and was filling- but at the same time, not too heavy. It was a great take on a traditional tostada.
Our second dish was a regular brisket sandwich. It came with on a brioche bun with slaw and (I believe) a horseradish garlic aioli. I tasted some pungent spiciness that was like horseradish in there, so I'm just gonna say there is. It was really really good and what gave it an extra few points was that they provided two different bbq sauces on each table. One was a Memphis inspired sauce, which is a sweeter bbq sauce and the other was a Kansas City sauce, which has a less sweet and smokier taste. I took advantage of the sauces and put some on my sandwich and dipped my pulled pork and fries in them!
If you love bbq and want a new place to try out, this is a great option! Pretty affordable (as always) and a good Happy Hour!
