Grey Trench and Denim Shorts

Over Memorial Day weekend, the boyfriend and I decided to visit the LA Zoo, since it's something we haven't done in a very long time. It was a little gloomy and cloudy but I suppose that's why they call it "June Gloom" but I didn't mind. The sun came out a little later during the day so it got better! :)

We saw a lot of pouty faces and cranky children that day but what's a family fun filled day without some tears, right? That just means you had so much fun and tired yourself out!

I forgot how big the zoo was and it definitely came with a ton of walking so I understand all of the pouty faces. I threw on a white tee with a lightweight grey trench and some denim cut offs for a day out. Because I knew the day came with a lot of walking, I made sure to wear comfy sneakers to help me get through the day. I wish I was one of those girls that can take outfit pictures completely dressed up with heels and cute dresses on, but that wouldn't be me! Once in a while, I'll change it up.. I promise. :)

Greys and Greens

Wore this outfit on the last day in SF the other weekend. We met up with a friend for brunch in the city and had the most amazing bacon I've ever tasted! The spot was called Sweet Maple and they call their bacon, "millionaire bacon". I now know why! It was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious with the perfect balance of salty and sweetness. You can see the picture of my meals in my previous Foodie Friday post!

Anyways, since we were going to be walking around and flying back to LA that evening, I decided to wear my slip on Converse sneakers and a comfy outfit. I put together my green utility jacket from The Loft and a new grey button up blouse from Cotton On for a perfect outfit for getting around! As you know, I love my basics and love mixing and matching what I can. I've come to learn that I love comfortable staple pieces that I are versatile to create new outfits constantly. I tend to love fabrics like cotton and linen since they feel the best on me. I don't like feeling itchy with clingy and scratchy fabrics so I make sure I look at the material content before purchasing. Been working for me these days! :)

Cool Tones at the Palace of Fine Arts

Took a nice weekend getaway to the beautiful San Francisco this past weekend and made it a goal to see a couple of places and eat at a couple of places I haven't been to yet. Our first stop was the Palace of Fine Arts which I have been dying to see. It is so beautiful and picturesque there, making it a perfect place for blog pictures!

I love the Classical style they used for the structure and carvings. I love Classical Greek and Roman art, so this was absolutely breathtaking for me!

Green Utility Jacket

I attended the Renaissance Faire over the weekend and had a blast! I haven't gone in a couple of years and was super excited to go again this year. I used to go there for field trips during middle school and always had so much fun so getting to go again now really brought back all of the fun childhood memories! The Renaissance Faire happens every year at this time and is open on the weekends. You can purchase tickets either online or at their ticket booth in person. They have tons of people attend and many people come dressed up in costume. I kind of wished I did because it seems like so much fun but I don't have the time to make a costume, so I went with my go-to casual attire!

I just recently purchased this green utility jacket at The Loft for 40% off, which is amazing! It's mainly made of linen so the material feels really good!

White Tee, Black Shorts

The boyfriend and I went to Disneyland over the weekend just to enjoy the nice weather and have a little fun. The last time we went, we tried to eat at the Big Thunder BBQ Ranch and Blue Bayou but both were completely booked, so this time, we were on a mission to eat at one of those locations!
We were lucky and were able to have lunch at the BBQ Ranch, which was all-you-can-eat, so I was happy that I dressed comfortably.

I just threw on a simple white tee and some distressed black denim shorts with my go-to espadrilles. Why spend an entire day walking around being uncomfortable?!

Snow Day

No, it didn't snow in LA but the family and I decided to take a spontaneous day trip to Mountain High for the little kiddies to play in the snow. It was rather warm that day so I was surprised the snow didn't melt by the time we got there! I brought myself a coat just in case but it was nothing compared to how cold NY was! And NY wasn't even that cold when we went!

All in all, the kids had a blast and I enjoyed spending time with my family since it's something I don't get to do that often. Nothing like an impromptu snow day!

Backyard Basics

I was looking around our backyard the other day and admiring how green everything was turning. California was in such a huge drought last year so it was nice to get some rain to refresh everything. I especially loved our lemon tree that has sprouted beautiful little white flowers. The petals fall off frequently and leave the floor white with scattered flowers.

Birds of Paradise

This outfit was from the other weekend where it was super warm in LA. It's been rainy and cloudy for the past week so I've been loving the cooler weather right now. For this warm sunny weekend, however, I whipped out my new dusty blue cami that I found at H&M a few weeks ago. I loved this gorgeous blue color and had to wear it! The cami is also a thicker fabric and has a strappy back detail (which I couldn't get a shot of unfortunately).

We were walking to a restaurant for lunch and found these vibrant Birds of Paradise flowers, so it called for some blog shots!

Flower Shop Casual

My sister and I went to visit our grandma at Rose Hills the other weekend and needed to go pick up some pretty flowers for her. We stopped at this local flower shop near the cemetery that was the cutest thing! Apparently, it's a flower shop and small lunch spot at the same time.

We spotted this small sitting area outside the shop and it was adorable! There were small wind mills and water pumps around. I loved it!

The Holidays at Disneyland!

The boyfriend and I decided to use our Disney annual passes this past weekend and spend a day at Disneyland to enjoy their holiday fun! Little did we know that it was going to be incredibly busy that day, but we made the most of it! I love coming here around the holidays because of the decorations, shows, and yummy foods! We even stopped by the "Jingle Jangle Jamboree" to see what it was all about. Turns out, it was where kids can come take pictures with Santa Clause and various Disney characters or watch a holiday show. I just looked at it as an opportunity to take blog and outfit pictures as you can see. :)

Embroidered in Black and White

I was recently contacted by Eshakti to write a post about their clothing and website. The way it works is that they offer a large variety of dresses that you can customize and fit you correctly. Being that I'm petite, this was very exciting for me! I often find it really hard to find clothing that fits me perfectly especially in length.

They gave me a direct link to items that I can choose through their blogger program so that I can receive an item to post about. I did have some limitations as most of the dresses were not available, possibly because they have already sold out.

I then decided on this black shift dress with white embroidery on it with two pockets in the front. It has short sleeves and is at a great length since I gave them my measurements and height.

The material is adequate and washed well. I didn't see any shrinkage or damage from washing in a machine on delicate settings and cold water, but I'm usually very careful with washing any of my things. It is actually really comfortable and casual, which was what I wanted and I recommend this site for anyone that wants to make sure they get dresses that fit their body perfectly. Make sure you know your measurements and be as detailed as possible so that the dresses fit you as best as possible. They make your dress according to the measurements and information you put on the order form.

Visit them at their website, www.eshakti.com, And get started!! :)

Thank you Eshakti for this great opportunity to try out your website and your clothing! And thank you for the lovely dress!

Olive Midi Dress

Being as petite as I am, it is such a huge and tedious task to find maxi or midi dresses. Of course, they are generally way too long on me and I need to spend the extra money on alterations. Recently, I found this amazing midi dress at a store at the Americana in Glendale called Kaitlin. I'm sure it's supposed to be at or a little below the knees for the average person, but it was a midi length for me! I thought it was perfect for days when I want to throw on something simple and loose.

I fell in love with the feminine lace details along the neckline. It is also lined so I don't have to worry about it being too sheer, which tends to be a problem I encounter frequently as well. But nope, this is as simple as throwing on a dress and sandals!

Minimalism at a Wedding

I attended an intimate and small church wedding ceremony for my cousin the other weekend and due to my special time of the month, I really didn't feel like wearing a dress. So....I decided on the following outfit for a sleek and put-together look for church. I threw on my clean white peplum shirt and black pants which was the perfect amount of comfort. Add on some of my grey blue pointed heels and accessories and I've got myself a great minimalist outfit!

The ceremony was sweet and simple. My cousin was a little nervous and I could tell since he dropped the ring a couple of times when he tried to put it on his wife's finger. Some might say it's not the best thing to have happen at your wedding but I'd like to say it'll make for great memories and stories!

Just want to say 'congrats' to them and I wish them a life of happiness together!
