Going out? Find your Perfect Dress
By Sarah Jameson

Going out is always fun, but the days leading up to it can be rather stressful. You have to find time to get your hair done, treat those nails, and to generally scrub, buff and tan your whole body. All this on top of finding the perfect outfit! Going out dresses are easy to find once you know what suits your body shape.

Being petite often means you can end up looking childish in some dresses. So you need to find a style that makes you look like a woman at the same time as looking fashionable and sophisticated. Online, you can find sophisticated evening dresses, gorgeous cocktail dresses and sparkling party dresses in every size and colour.

The key is to wear shorter dresses. If you can get your legs out and wear killer heels, no one will really realize you are on the smaller end of the scale. Fitted dresses that accentuate your petite frame are ideal and if they can come to mid thigh or just above the knee you will create the illusion of long legs, of course helped by those killer heels. Do not be afraid to whip out your sewing kit and turn the edge of your dress up if it needs to be shorter, especially if you have bought a dress from the normal line of clothes and not the petite line.

Being tall creates the opposite problems of being petite. You do not want to look long and gangly, so more often that not, opt for flat shoes and a dress that compliments that. Tall people are lucky in the fact they look stunning in the infamous maxi dress that is all the rage. Their long legs support the long flowing skirt of the dress and the elegance that is produce is merely an amazing side effect.

The curvier ladies amongst us should make sure their going out dresses hug where they want to, but not in those places we rather we did not have. Dresses that nip in at the waist and then out again are ideal. They accentuate the beautiful hourglass figure you have, but hide those lumps and bumps further down your hips and waist that you would rather no one knew about! Failing that, go for a flowing mid-length dress that hugs nowhere but looks elegant and summery.

It's always useful to have a good browse before you buy so check out the online shops and compare all of the different styles on the web. Some of these stores also have the option to buy now pay later, so you can save a bit of money doing this! You can buy now pay later at Ellos and many other online stores, so if any cute dresses jump out at you, you can spread the cost over a few months!

  6. These are such helpful tips. Being petite, I've learned so much over the years about what works for me and what does not. Fortunately, I can sew, so I hem a lot of my clothing to make it more flattering. Can't wait to read more posts like this, great job!
